Course Description:
With the establishment of the National Interpreter Certification, there has been a shift in the skills that interpreters must demonstrate in order to pass the test. A new addition to the testing process is the interview portion which tests the interpreter’s ability to apply the NAD – RID Code of Professional Conduct to a variety of hypothetical scenarios. This workshop will focus on the RID interview rubric and how to prepare for the interview portion of the NIC test.
Educational Objectives:

The participant will be able to identify the 3 domains described in the NIC interview rubric.
- The participant will be able to recognize the difference between a short term consequence and long term consequence.
- The participant will be able to list 4 stakeholders in the interpreting process who’s perspective must be considered when answering the interview questions
- The participant will be able to identify the tenets of the NAD – RID Code of Professional Conduct.
