In this workshop, we will explore what Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP), and 504 plans are and how they impact students with disabilities. We will focus on students who are Deaf/hard of hearing and how those plans affect them.  Interpreters should be familiar with those plans because they are a crucial part of the team and they know their DHH students the best at times.  IEPs, IFSPs, and 504s can become confusing with legal jargons and sections so this workshop will explain the plans in a clear picture so interpreters will know how to provide appropriate feedback and observations.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify the differences between IEPs, IFSPs, and 504s and how they service DHH students.
  2. Participants will be able to list the different services available and how services impact the DHH students.
  3. Participants will be able to identify various accommodations provided to DHH students and how they are applied in the classroom.
