This workshop will examine human emotion and how it works within the context of message delivery. Emotions are such a big part in the way situations and words are understood and provide the lens in which we see the world. Micro-expressions also play a role in how we convey our emotions, they are subtle and brief but can provide insight into how we are feeling and provide information for the person receiving the information on how to interpret the message. There are seven emotions that have universal signals. Understanding these can help interpreters better navigate the expression of emotion and do a better job with matching affect when interpreting.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to discuss the various human emotions that exist, and focus in on the seven emotions that have universal signals.
- Participants will be able to classify the different micro expressions and recognize them in a variety of pictures and videotaped scenario.
- Participants will be able to present the different ways that affect can be constructed to create a more effective interpreted experience.
