Ethics for any profession can be complicated. It is only by practicing ethical decision making and reflecting on the outcomes of decisions can a professional become more comfortable with the process. By understanding the general concepts and analyzing the steps involved in ethical decision making, an interpreter can then apply these concepts to the profession of interpreting using the Code of Professional Conduct as a guideline.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to describe the five steps in general ethical decision making.
- Participants will be able to identify questions to ask during each step of the decision making process.
- Participants will be able to explain how to apply this process to interpreting situations.
