CEUs: 0.1 PS

Presenter: Roberto Santiago

Presented in: Written English

Format: Instructional Article

As Interpreters, we know there is a distinct difference between ASL and English.  While we are taught there is a difference, it is a struggle to discuss the differences and similarities in terms that surpass “Topic, Comment” structure.  This article discusses the differences and similarities of English and ASL with a focus on pronouns.

Educational Objectives:
  1. Participants will be able to identify the differences between the ASL and English symbols for time, place, and conditional events.
  2. Participants will be able to identify the basic pronoun categories and how ASL and English pronouns apply.
