This workshop is for seasoned interpreters who are ready to take the plunge and start mentoring other interpreters who want to improve their product. It will focus on the business side of mentoring including how to accept payments, keep records, organize your data, and other valuable lessons for someone starting to mentor professionally.
The presenter has been mentoring for over 13 years and has worked with over 90 mentees. This workshop will share the techniques used in her own mentoring process. The day consists of going through several activities that have been helpful in understanding business basics. Participants will be able to use these techniques to start formulate a business approach with in their current and future mentees.
- Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the mentoring as a business through discussion.
- Participants will be able to develop a plan to help set up their own mentoring approaches.
- Participants will be able to demonstrate skills needed to mentor other novice interpreters in the field.
