This presentation will focus on the roles played by hearing people with various levels of involvement in the Deaf community. We will explore the meaning behind the three terms: Deaf Heart, Allyship, and Allophilia, and the process a person may go through to acquire one of these labels.

1. Participants will be able to define various terms related to oppression and describe the impact these terms have on the Deaf and Hearing Community.
2. Participants will be able to explain the history of three terms (Deaf Heart, Allyship, and Allophilia) and analyze the contexts that lead to their use.
3. Participants will be able to describe the roles these terms play within the Deaf Community and identify how they affect the relationship between the Deaf and hearing communities.
