Leadership is more than just getting the attention focused on yourself, it is about discovering your own personal values and beliefs and then modeling it through ACTION. In every field the cultivation of leadership and the future practitioners is extremely important to the sustainability and culture of that field of practice. This interactive workshop will begin with exploring the practices of exemplary leadership, promoting diversity and emancipatory education, and discuss the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Additionally, you will be challenged to clarify your guiding values, understanding how to challenge the current process, and how to get involved in a leadership project that can support your own community of practice.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to discuss various aspects of leadership that happen and ways that leadership can be incorporated within teaching, interpreting, advocacy, and community partnerships.
  2. Participants will be able to organize and examine their own professional approaches to leadership.
  3. Participants will be able to identity their current values and explain how this matches up with their actions within the field.
  4. Participants will be able to develop leadership project ideas utilizing a problem-solution model.
