Deaf people either know or do not know famous people, period. Interpreters have to be able to do a great job of making famous people come to life, both historical or contemporary. Interpreters have a few challenges to accomplishing this: describing them, identifying their backgrounds, knowing what they’re famous for, and more. Deaf people want to know everything about famous people. How can interpreters keep Deaf people interested and stay on task? In this webinar interpreters will learn how to determine which details are important and which are not. They will also be able to determine how to interpret in a manner where they would be able to keep their Deaf audience’s attention.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify details which are important and include them in their interpretation.
- Participants will be able to analyze the information they have about famous people and filter out extraneous details that are not important to interpret.
- Participants will be able to explain techniques for on how to interpret in a manner where they would be able to keep their Deaf audience’s attention.
