In this workshop, participants will explore the linguistic concepts of implication, presupposition, entailment, and ambiguity. They will identify instances of each concept and then practice applying these concepts to their interpretations.
Educational Objectives
- Participants will be able to define implication, presupposition, entailment, and ambiguity.
- Participants will be able to identify instances of these four concepts in authentic language samples.
- Participants will be able to use these concepts to craft interpretations of authentic language samples and explain how the concept was employed in that interpretation.
