In this workshop, participants will discuss the ethical implications of cultural differences. Students will first define foundational terms including: equality, social justice, marginalization, oppression, and appropriation. They will then consider the cultural frameworks in which the CPC was written and note its embeddedness within those cultures. Finally, they will discuss scenarios in which cultural differences create ethical dilemmas and will weigh the benefits and disadvantages of possible responses to these scenarios.

Educational Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to define terms related to culture and ethics.
  2. Participants will be able to explain the cultural context and cultural limitations of the CPC.
  3. Participants will be able to assess the outcomes of various responses to cultural conflicts by listing advantages and disadvantages of various responses.
