In any interpreting setting, it is important to remember where one sets up information and details. Discourse mapping is a concept many interpreters struggle to understand or retain how to use. In this workshop, interpreters will learn more about the concept of discourse mapping and how it supports their interpretation. Participants will have opportunities to implement new knowledge and put these skills into practice. Participants will also leave with some tools and strategies for their interpreting toolboxes.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe discourse mapping.
  2. Participants will be able to recognize how to integrate it into their interpreting.
  3. Participants will be able to analyze scenarios and apply discourse mapping to each.
