Many interpreters receive their credentials and are ready to get to work when they realize they don’t know how to take the first steps from a business standpoint. This workshop will focus on understanding what you need to start on your freelance journey. From invoicing to taxes, we will discuss the questions many interprets have when they are branching out into the freelance sector. Participants will be able to practice designing their own templates with contracts as well as resumes.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to describe best business practices of free-lance interpreting.
- Participants will be able to develop their own contracts and invoices for use in their free-lance interpreting.
- Participants will be able to identify ways to negotiate fees or services that are representative of their skills, knowledge and cost of living in their area.
