CEUs: 0.1 PS
Presenter: Paula Browning
Presented in: Spoken English
Format: Podcast
Moving between two languages as an interpreter is not some magical trick; it is a practiced, carefully constructed process of deconstructing one language to a concept and then reconstructing to another language. In our field, several models have been presented to represent what is going on in our brains to create this phenomenon. Some compare it to juggling: receiving the message, processing the message, then producing the message simultaneously! This workshop will familiarize participants with the four most known processing models taught in our field. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to identify and explain these models of processing, apply it to deliberate practice of this skill, and then use these models as a foundation for future work.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify the four most popular interpreting process models.
- Participants will be able to identify and describe the steps of each of the interpreting process models.
- Participants will be able to apply one of the interpreting process models to a sample English text.
