CEUs: 0.2 PS CEUs
Presenter: Dr. Sabrina Smith
Presented in: Spoken English with Captions
Format: Archived Webinar
Interactive interpreting is different compared to straight ASL to English or English to ASL. During interactive interpreting, interpreters do not have the time to formulate as they normally would. Processing time is usually much shorter in order to have a smooth flow in the conversation. This workshop takes a look at interactive interpreting and how the product changes when there are time constrictions. We will also focus on how to make sure turn taking is happening and techniques to use when the overlap starts to occur.
Educational Objectives:
- Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of interactive interpreting through discussion.
- Participants will be able to demonstrate skills needed to produce an ASL product that includes an
understanding of the English equivalency. - Participants will be able to list the skills necessary to improve their own product through practice during the workshop.
